Vaquero said she hoped to hear “a true account” from Vivas of what is happening and highlighted the support shown by Aragón in recent days. In this regard, she recalled the rallies held last week in numerous municipalities and cities across the region to show solidarity with Ceuta.
The deputy regional president directly linked the situation in the autonomous city to the defense of Spain’s borders. “Supporting Ceuta means supporting our territorial integrity,” she said, before describing what happened as the “greatest assistance and political crisis” the city has experienced. “Ceuta is Spain,” she reiterated, while also defending national sovereignty and security.
She directed her harshest criticism at the Spanish government, accusing it of “silence,” “lies” and “opacity.” Vaquero believes the central government has failed to provide an adequate response since the crisis began and demanded that it “face up” and act in a situation that, in her view, requires immediate decisions.
The Aragón deputy regional president also questioned the explanations offered so far by the various ministries and called for accountability over the contradictions she claims to have detected. Her statements came before Juan Jesús Vivas’s appearance at the Fórum Europa, just days after the large rallies in support of Ceuta also held in Zaragoza, Huesca and Teruel.
