Azcón said he was “deeply” saddened by Aliaga’s death and described him as “a public servant who worked tirelessly for Aragón’s interests”. The regional president recalled that he had served several times as Industry minister and had also been vice president of the Government of Aragón, before extending his condolences to his family, friends and colleagues.

Pilar Alegría also highlighted Aliaga’s ties to the region, stressing that “he made Aragón an essential part of his life”. The Socialist leader recalled that the former PAR leader and regional government minister devoted “many years to public service working to improve this land” and sent her affection to his family and friends.
PSOE Aragón also expressed its “deep” sorrow over his death and recalled the years when Socialists and Aragonese nationalists shared government responsibilities. “We were united by our commitment to this land and our determination to reach agreements to move it forward,” the party said.
Arturo Aliaga made Aragón an essential part of his life.

THE PRESIDENT OF THE ARAGON PARLIAMENT ALSO REMEMBERS ALIAGA
The president of the Parliament of Aragón, María Navarro, also joined the expressions of condolence following Arturo Aliaga’s death. “I am deeply saddened by the death of Arturo Aliaga, vice president of the Government of Aragón and a member of the Parliament of Aragón,” she said, before extending her “deepest condolences” to the family, friends and colleagues of the historic PAR leader. “May he rest in peace,” she concluded.
Chunta Aragonesista expressed its "sorrow" over the news of the death of former Aragón vice president Arturo Aliaga. "We share the grief of his family and friends, to whom we send a big hug," the party said on its X profile.
The president of the Zaragoza Provincial Council, Juan Antonio Sánchez Quero, also wanted to express his sadness over the death and send "a big hug" to the deceased politician’s family and friends. "Arturo was a committed Aragonese nationalist who gave everything for his homeland until his last breath. For two decades, he did an outstanding job at the head of the Industry Department, laying the foundations for many major projects," he said.
ALIAGA, A POLITICAL CAREER LINKED TO INDUSTRY
Between 2019 and 2023, Aliaga was part of the executive led by Javier Lambán (who died last year in Ejea) as vice president and minister for Industry, Competitiveness and Business Development, within the coalition government formed by PSOE, Podemos, CHA and PAR. He had previously also held Industry responsibilities in the governments of Marcelino Iglesias and Luisa Fernanda Rudi.
Born in Jaulín, he was president of PAR from 2015 to 2023 and spent around 17 years overseeing the Government of Aragón’s industrial policies, as well as serving as a regional lawmaker for 16 years. He withdrew from frontline politics in 2023, after a career marked by consensus, Aragonese nationalism and his participation in governments of different political orientations.
