Following Wednesday's Council of Government meeting, she said that the departments have “everything ready,” apart from any adjustments that may be made by the Finance Department, as work on the budget has been underway “since the beginning of the legislative term.”
“Since we took office and assumed our respective responsibilities, I assure you that all the ministers began working on those budgets immediately, because this government's priority was to launch the new budget project,” Vaquero said, before recalling that Jorge Azcón called the regional elections on 8F precisely because he failed to secure enough support to approve this year's budget.
Regarding support for the budget, the vice president acknowledged that “the groups that normally support the budget are those that support the government” — in this case, the People's Party and Vox. However, she recalled that once the parliamentary process begins, there will be a round of consultations and the groups will have the opportunity to submit amendments. At that point, “the aim will be to obtain the broadest possible support,” with “the ability to engage in dialogue and reach consensus” coming into play.
Ultimately, she said they would “certainly be good budgets for Aragón” that would “allow us to continue investing in improving public services” and support the period of growth the autonomous community is experiencing.
