Sergi Enrich calls for calm ahead of Real Zaragoza-Huesca: “It has to be a celebration”

The seasoned and experienced Sergi Enrich knows better than anyone that a Real Zaragoza-S.D. Huesca match can bring much more than football. After being present at the latest clash between the Aragonese sides, which was marred by deplorable incidents that made headlines around the world, the Huesca striker is one of the few survivors of that shameful game who will once again experience a regional derby in Primera RFEF. He has called for respect and cordiality: “It has to be a celebration.”
Sergi Enrich calls for calm ahead of Real Zaragoza-Huesca: “It has to be a celebration”

"We have to set an example. Last year, what happened happened, and I think we are all ashamed of that situation. There is hatred between the fan bases, and it shouldn't be that way. In the end, we are neighbors, we are Aragonese, and each team will have its own weapons and will want to win the match at all costs, but always with respect," insisted the striker, who also wore the Real Zaragoza shirt for a season before joining Huesca.

In this regard, Enrich acknowledged that what happened last season "comes to all our minds" and hopes that both fan bases can enjoy an incident-free night this time. "Last year, what happened happened, and I think we are all ashamed of that situation. I hope it will be a beautiful night for both fan bases and that the best team wins, although I hope we take the three points," said the Balearic striker.

On the sporting front, the striker believes Huesca are arriving in good form after securing their first league win with Albert Rudé on the bench against Nàstic de Tarragona. "I think the team has perhaps taken on Albert's (Rudé) best system. You can see that the team has understood it perfectly, and I think we are on the right track. We are arriving in good form, but you have to be consistent," said Enrich, who listed the weapons the new coach has instilled in the squad: "Pressing high, keeping possession and then trying to convert the chances you create."

REAL ZARAGOZA'S POTENTIAL

The Huesca attacker also acknowledged Real Zaragoza's potential, considering them clear promotion candidates as the club with the highest salary cap. "They are doing very well, but beyond the opposition, we want to focus on ourselves. We are a great team with players of tremendous quality. We have built an incredible group and train very well. I see a committed team, and we are on the right track. If they want to beat us, they will have to run a lot," Enrich stated.

Individually, the Balearic striker acknowledged that he feels good within the Aragonese club: "That is what makes me happy: seeing myself as useful to the squad, not only in the dressing room but also on the pitch." He also highlighted certain essentials that can never be lacking: "Passion, spirit, the identity of pressing and giving everything we have—that cannot be missing. If they are better afterward, we will shake hands with the opposition, but it must not be because we failed to try or give everything."
