Príncipe Felipe's new state-of-the-art video scoreboard gets an installation date

Zaragoza City Council, through the municipal company Zaragoza Deporte, will replace the central video scoreboard at the Príncipe Felipe Pavilion with a state-of-the-art LED system. The new audiovisual equipment will meet the requirements of national and international sporting competitions, as well as the cultural events and major shows hosted at the municipal venue.

The project will involve an investment of 230,427.97 euros (excluding VAT) and will replace the current system, installed in 2012. Zaragoza Deporte's Board of Directors has approved the proposed contract award to Mondo Ibérica, S.A.U., for the supply, installation and commissioning of the new equipment. The bid represents a 10.51% reduction—more than 32,000 euros—compared with the tender's base budget.

READY FOR THE COPA DE LA REINA

Mondo Ibérica has reduced the execution period by 32 calendar days from the maximum set in the tender, establishing an 80-calendar-day deadline for delivery and commissioning of the system. The installation requires the current video scoreboard to be dismantled first, so the work schedule will have to be coordinated with the sporting calendar to choose the most suitable time and minimize disruption to activity at the pavilion. The aim is for the new system to be operational for the 2027 Copa de la Reina basketball tournament.

The contract includes a comprehensive seven-year warranty, compared with the two-year minimum required; an annual allowance of 60 hours of on-site technical assistance during events, at no additional cost; and a maximum on-site response time of 24 hours in the event of problems. In addition, the company will provide five years of free updates for the control and management software and assign a manufacturer-certified technician throughout the warranty period.

The new video scoreboard will consist of a suspended structure with two rings, rounded corners and a continuous curved transition. The upper ring, intended for the main screens, will have four sides and a graphic surface of 72 square meters. The lower ring, designed as an advertising banner and for supporting information, will add a further 11 square meters. The equipment will have International Basketball Federation (FIBA) certification and will be integrated with the pavilion's other screens and possession and corner shot clocks through a new Novastar H9 central processor.
