Casademont Zaragoza will be without Caleb Homesley for three weeks: "It's a setback that disrupts us a lot"

Bad news for Casademont Zaragoza. Although he avoided a more serious injury after the heavy collision he suffered in the latest game against Barcelona, Caleb Homesley has a sprained left ankle with significant bruising that will keep him out for approximately three weeks. It is a serious setback that, as Gonzalo García de Vitoria explained, disrupts the team's plans: "It's a setback that disrupts us a lot."

"We built the team with a number of ball-handlers because the idea from the outset was to have plenty of ball-handlers on the court. Caleb is not a scorer; he is a player who is very dangerous with the ball because he is an excellent passer and a tremendous finisher," the Casademont coach said of the American guard who was injured in the first quarter of the last game at Palau Blaugrana.

Despite Homesley's absence and the doubt surrounding Trae Bell-Haynes ahead of the next game against Girona, the Basque coach did not want to make excuses in a situation where Casademont must take a step forward: "I think that in these situations involving injuries, with short rosters like ours, this is when the team's character will be shown. We already showed on the day of the Barça game that we were good in that respect, because Caleb was injured in the opening minutes, but this is the moment to show our character, the spirit we have and to reinvent ourselves."

MINUTES FOR THE LESS REGULAR PLAYERS

As a result, the American guard's absence gives the players with fewer minutes in the Casademont squad an opportunity to play a bigger role. "This is a moment when Sergi (García) or Miguel (González) can get more minutes. I have no doubt that they are eager and ready. Then we will play with a nine-man rotation, and above all, we must not make excuses, because excuses take root in your head, and that is what I don't want," García de Vitoria explained.
