Carlos Retamar takes charge of Wanapix Sala 10 after Jorge Palos steps down

Following Jorge Palos’ resignation, Carlos Retamar will take over as coach of Wanapix Sala 10. The futsal legend from Aragon assumes the role indefinitely after serving as assistant coach of the first team and academy coordinator. He faces the difficult task of lifting a team currently bottom of the Primera División.

Wanapix is thus turning to Retamar’s experience, knowledge of the dressing room and years of work within the Zaragoza club’s structure, where he will now take another step forward to begin a new chapter at the helm of the first team.

The Zaragoza-based club has announced that it is placing its full confidence in Retamar and will reorganize work in the youth categories so that he can focus exclusively on the first team. "Thank you for your commitment and for taking this step forward, Reta," Wanapix said in a statement from its new head coach.

Retamar’s appointment comes after Jorge Palos stepped down, deciding to leave the bench to rest and regain his energy and enthusiasm after months of strain. The Zaragoza coach had managed to return the team to the Primera División last season, but the side has failed to make a strong start on its return to the top flight.

THE FIRST CHALLENGE

Wanapix have yet to win this season and have picked up just one point from a draw against Santa Coloma, results that leave them at the bottom of the table. Retamar therefore faces the challenge of changing the team’s momentum and beginning to collect points to move away from the relegation zone.

His first match will come this Sunday, when Wanapix travel to Andalusia to face Córdoba (1:00 p.m.). The Andalusian side are also near the bottom of the table, just three points ahead of the Zaragoza team, making the game an important opportunity to begin this new chapter with a victory.
