The main activity will be the traditional Aragonese parade, which will begin on Calle Bielsa (at Caminos del Norte) and continue along Paseo Longares before ending at the Jardines de Tosos (at the end of Paseo Longares). The parade will also feature music by the Gaiteros del Rabal, followed by a party at the Jardines de Tosos starting at 8:00 p.m.
The organizers are encouraging families and young children to attend the festival in costume so that the parade is filled with color, fear and terror.
A TRADITIONAL CELEBRATION
The night from October 31 to November 1 is a magical night: All Souls’ Night, or the Night of Souls, an Aragonese festival during which, traditionally, the cemetery gates were opened and the souls that had remained trapped in the village were guided there so they could rest in peace.
In Aragon, Nueit d’animas is that magical day when the line separating the world of the living from the world of the dead begins to crack. This breach allows the dead to enter for one day the world they once inhabited and live alongside those who are still alive. It is the darkest time of year, marking the most inexorable approach of the cold winter. In other words, it is the right moment to honor and communicate with your ancestors, with whom one must remain on good and peaceful terms.
