Speaking to the media at the opening of the Cantavieja Fair, Aragon’s Deputy Regional Premier, Mar Vaquero, accused Urtasun of “politicizing” the judicial proceedings over the Sijena artifacts “once again,” even though the matter “has already been adjudicated and resolved.”
She therefore described the SUMAR member’s comments as a “new provocation,” reproaching him for questioning “the work of the judges by attacking the independence of the Judiciary once again” by speaking of “shame.” “Court rulings are not imposed; they are enforced and complied with,” Vaquero responded to Urtasun’s remarks, in which he claimed that judges had ignored the experts’ criteria.
The regional Culture minister also denounced Catalonia’s continued delays in returning the artifacts “using any excuse.” “These artifacts must return to Sijena, to the place that inspired those paintings and the walls from which those paintings were later removed. They should never have left,” she concluded.
