Half a century after its creation, the Las Fuentes Cabezudos Troupe is one of the leading symbols of Zaragoza’s festive tradition. Generations of families have been part of its history, accompanying celebrations and bringing to the streets one of the most recognizable expressions of Zaragoza’s festivities. Its selection to deliver the opening address is therefore a tribute to its legacy and to those who have helped keep it alive.
Interpeñas’ recognition this year also includes the appointment of Javier Pina, from Peña El Almuerzo, as an Honorary Peñista. Pina has 44 years of experience linked to the peñista movement, including his work on his peña’s board and within the federation itself.
A TRIBUTE TO THOSE WHO KEEP THE FESTIVITY ALIVE
The Las Fuentes Cabezudos Troupe and Javier Pina will therefore be two of the leading names at the 2026 Fiestas del Pilar, in a year when Interpeñas has sought to recognize the achievements of those who have contributed for decades to building and sustaining popular festivities in Zaragoza.
