The date chosen to enjoy "Lawrence of Arabia" once again was no coincidence. The screening will take place on Sunday, October 4, exactly the same day Cines Palafox opened its doors in 1954. Seventy-two years later, Palafox wants to celebrate its anniversary by doing what it was created for: bringing audiences together in front of a big screen to enjoy a great film.
The screening of "Lawrence of Arabia" will begin at 5:00 p.m. in a Spanish-dubbed version and will also include an intermission (the film runs for around three hours and 45 minutes), reviving the traditional way in which long-running blockbusters were shown.
A MUST-SEE FILM
"Lawrence of Arabia" is one of cinema's must-see films. During the Great War (1914-1918), T.E. Lawrence, a troubled and enigmatic British officer, is sent to the desert to take part in a campaign supporting the Arabs against Turkey. He and his friend Sherif Ali will devote their whole souls to the mission. The natives adore Lawrence because he has more than proved himself a lover of the desert and the Arab people. His British superiors, however, believe he has gone mad.
Directed by David Lean and winner of seven Academy Awards, including Best Picture, "Lawrence of Arabia" remains, more than six decades after its release, one of the most spectacular works ever conceived for the big screen. Its cinematography, vast landscapes and unforgettable score by Maurice Jarre make it one of those films whose full scale can only truly be appreciated in a cinema.

The celebration will also include a very special memento. All spectators attending the screening will receive a free mega-ticket for "Lawrence of Arabia," created as a keepsake of the screening and the 72nd anniversary of Cine Palafox. Tickets for the film's only screening are on sale at the box office and on the Cines Palafox website.
