However, the return to normal got off to a difficult start: traffic delays formed early in the morning because the road has been reduced to a single lane, creating a bottleneck.
The work is part of the urban development project around the former El Portillo railway station and required the turn between Paseo de María Agustín and Escrivá de Balaguer to remain closed throughout the summer. With the reopening, the usual direction of traffic has also been restored in the adjoining lane of Calle Marie Curie, although parking is prohibited on the side with even-numbered addresses. Direct access to Paseo María Agustín from Escrivá de Balaguer will nevertheless continue via Avenida de Anselmo Clavé and Calle Mayandía.
SEVERAL BUS ROUTES RETURN TO THEIR OFFICIAL ITINERARIES
The changes also affect cycling mobility and public transport. The cycle lane will remain closed in both directions between Calle Borao and Glorieta de los Zagríes. By contrast, bus routes 21, 31 and 51, as well as the Tourist Bus, are returning to their official itineraries following the junction's reopening.
Route 22 will retain a specific itinerary: from María Agustín, it will access Escrivá de Balaguer, turn around at Rotonda de la Ciudadanía and return along the same road toward Avenida de Anselmo Clavé.
