The banner is the first of the gestures planned for the day. At 8:00 p.m., a gathering will be held in Plaza del Pilar, outside City Hall, organized at Spanish town halls nationwide by the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces (FEMP). Chueca has urged Zaragoza residents to join the event and send Ceuta the message that they "are not alone".
The mayor said the situation facing the autonomous city represents extraordinary pressure on its resources and public services, as well as a challenge for the country as a whole. "It is putting Spain to the test—our ability to protect our borders, guarantee security and defend the integrity of our territory," she said.
FOUNTAINS AND BUILDINGS WITH THE SPANISH FLAG
Zaragoza's support for Ceuta will also be visible at municipal buildings and fountains during the day. The fountains and the facade of City Hall were illuminated on Tuesday and will be lit again this Wednesday in the colors of the Spanish flag, joining the banner installed on the main balcony.
Through these actions, Zaragoza City Council aims to publicly show its support for Ceuta and its citizens on a day marked by calls to reaffirm the autonomous city's Spanish identity. Chueca has therefore stressed the need for Ceuta to feel the support of the rest of Spain in a situation that, she said, affects not only the autonomous city but also the country's ability to protect its borders.
