The condition of streets and sidewalks also ranks prominently among residents’ demands, accounting for 5.9% of responses. This is followed by strengthening culture, associations, cultural centers and activities, at 5.6%, and expanding or improving public transport, at 5.1%. Public safety and surveillance appear in 4.1% of responses, while cleanliness and affordable housing tie at 3%. Further down the list are infrastructure and demands for more hospitals and health centers, both at 2.8%, and the need for more parking, at 2.4%.
MUNICIPAL SERVICES RECEIVE GOOD MARKS
The barometer also rates municipal services, giving the management of the city’s services an average score of 6.68 out of 10. Firefighters receive the highest rating, an outstanding 8.53, in the same year they were chosen to deliver the opening speech at the upcoming Pilar Festival. The 010 Service scores 7.45 and the tram reaches 7.30, while activities at civic centers receive 6.95 and community centers for older people score 6.93.
Municipal offices and citizen services, at 6.84, and pedestrian areas, at 6.83, also receive scores above seven. The Local Police scores 6.77. Among the priorities identified in the barometer, those related to public space and mobility carry the greatest weight: improving green spaces, providing more sports facilities, and continuing to expand the tram and public transport are the top requests.
