The episode dedicated to Zaragoza will premiere on Tuesday, September 22, at 8:30 p.m. and will take Julius Bienert to some of the city's best-known venues. The route will make a special stop in El Tubo, while also showcasing establishments in other parts of the Aragonese capital.
A ROUTE THROUGH FIVE BARS IN ZARAGOZA
The first stop will be El Meli del Tubo, where the chef will try its braised oxtail brioche. The route will continue at La Clandestina, also in the El Tubo area, where he will discover the famous "Cruz de Navajas", recognized as Spain's Best Tapas Dish.
"Spanish Tapas" will visit more than 80 establishments throughout its run.
Aragonese produce will take center stage at La Flor de Lis, where Julius will learn about some of the establishment's creations made with borage, one of the most characteristic products of Aragon's vegetable gardens. The route will continue at Casa Pedro, the establishment run by brothers Carcas, where the program will explore their pintxos, recognized in various international gastronomic competitions.
The final stop will be Casa Juanico, where Julius Bienert will try one of the venue's best-known bites: ham with chorreras. The selection allows the program to explore different ways of understanding tapas in Zaragoza, from traditional recipes and Aragonese products to creations that have received recognition in gastronomic competitions.
ZARAGOZA, ONE OF THE PROGRAM'S 13 STOPS
The Zaragoza episode is part of a 13-episode production in which Julius Bienert travels to different Spanish cities where tapas culture is essential, exploring their bars and trying some of their most representative tapas. In addition to Zaragoza, "Spanish Tapas" will visit Vitoria-Gasteiz, Granada, San Sebastián, Logroño, Seville, Pamplona, Valladolid, Málaga, Oviedo, Santiago de Compostela, Valencia and León.
In total, the program will visit more than 80 bars, from historic establishments to venues that have incorporated more contemporary offerings into the tapas tradition. The series also focuses on the professionals behind the bars and the stories of the establishments keeping recipes linked to each city alive.
