Zaragoza Gets a Fashion Makeover: Aragón Fashion Week Returns for Its Eighth Edition

Zaragoza Gets a Fashion Makeover: Aragón Fashion Week Returns for Its Eighth Edition

Aragón Fashion Week will bring together designers, companies, manufacturers, students and professionals to examine the sector’s main challenges and opportunities. The event will address issues including innovation, logistics, new trends, sustainability and the future of the fashion industry. In addition, this edition’s star guest will be designer Yolancris.

FASHION, CRAFTS AND GASTRONOMY JOIN FORCES

As Luis Aparicio, president of FITCA (Federation of Textile and Clothing Industries of Aragón), pointed out, “Fashion Week has become a benchmark event.” He also highlighted the importance of craftsmanship within the sector: “Haute couture cannot be understood without craftsmanship.”

This edition will be special in many ways, with collaborations that promise to surprise. On the one hand, craftspeople and designers will work side by side on different proposals, while on the other, fashion and gastronomy will forge closer ties than ever.

This year, five designers will challenge five bars in Zaragoza’s El Tubo district in an initiative that will fuse fashion and gastronomy. Each designer will create a piece to be displayed at one of the participating venues, whose challenge will be to prepare a tapa inspired by that design and capable of conveying on the plate everything the creator seeks to express through their garments. All proceeds from these tapas will go to Apsatur (Association of Patients with Sarcomas and Rare Tumors of Aragón).

PLAZA DEL PILAR ONCE AGAIN BECOMES A LARGE RUNWAY

One of the main attractions of each edition is the fashion shows, which will take place over several days and at different venues across the city. Among the most notable events is the initiative to “take fashion into the streets,” which is celebrating its third edition this year, as Carlos Gimeno, Zaragoza City Council’s councillor for the Economy, Digital Transformation and Transparency, pointed out. As a result, Plaza del Pilar will once again become a large open-air runway and the setting for some of this edition’s shows.

Meanwhile, Zaragoza Conference Centre will host the shows that require admission. Tickets will be available one week in advance through the Aragón Fashion Week website. On Friday at 9:30 p.m., the Young Designers Competition will take place, featuring the six finalists in this edition. The following day, Saturday, will be the turn of renowned Aragonese brands, which will present their designs on the runway.

Year after year, the event brings fashion lovers together in Zaragoza and provides an opportunity to discover and highlight the talent found in Aragón in a sector that continues to grow and reinvent itself.
