The equipment will consist of an earpiece and a bone-conduction microphone using Osteofon technology. It must be compatible with the portable radios currently used by the municipal firefighters, the CT-Multicom PTT microphone-speaker system. The aim is to introduce a compact system that can be used alongside the communication equipment carried by personnel during operations.
The purchase has a base budget of €31,000 excluding VAT, and interested companies may submit their bids until September 16, 2026. The successful bidder will have a maximum of ten weeks from the signing of the contract to deliver the hundred devices to Fire Station No. 1, on Calle Valle de Broto.
SPARE PARTS GUARANTEED FOR TEN YEARS
The tender specifications set a minimum warranty of one year from the receipt of the equipment, although Zaragoza City Council will consider favorably any extensions offered by companies. In addition, the successful bidder must guarantee the supply of spare parts for at least ten years, a condition intended to ensure the maintenance of the devices throughout much of their useful life.
The purchase also comes in a particularly significant year for the Zaragoza Fire Department. Its members have been chosen to give the opening address at the 2026 Fiestas del Pilar, in recognition of the municipal service and the professionals who make it up. Their prominent role will come in October, but in the meantime their work will remain focused on emergencies and the operations they carry out every day across the city.
Communication plays an essential role in that work. The new equipment will strengthen the means through which personnel stay in radio contact during operations, especially in situations where noise, distance or the specific conditions of an emergency can make communication between team members difficult.
