Tomás has argued that Zaragoza en Común’s aim is to bring together the various forces positioned to the left of the PSOE. "Bringing the entire left together" is part of the organization’s DNA, she explained, which already ran jointly with other groups in 2023. The spokesperson also believes that programmatic differences with Podemos and CHA are not significant and that there is room to build a joint candidacy for the next election.
ZeC’s spokesperson acknowledged, however, that the process will not be easy. This is especially true in the case of Chunta Aragonesista, whose growth in the polls could make it more difficult for the party to give up its own brand. The latest municipal poll places CHA ahead of ZeC in estimated voting intention, a scenario that adds difficulty to any potential alliance.
A JOINT CANDIDACY TO TAKE ON THE PP AND VOX
Despite the difficulties, Tomás insisted that ZeC wants to talk to all the forces with which it could build a coalition. "As long as they are to the left of the PSOE," she clarified. The formula could involve repeating the 2023 alliance or seeking a new agreement to bring together the votes of the various left-wing organizations in the Aragonese capital.
ZeC’s spokesperson nevertheless avoided considering any candidacy or coalition finalized. Her current approach is to keep the talks open and explore a formula that makes it possible to bring together as many forces as possible. "Our intention has always been, and I believe that is what we did in 2023, to go into these elections united with Chunta, Podemos and whoever else," she summarized, setting as the main condition that potential allies be positioned to the left of the PSOE.
