Between 2027 and 2031, Zaragoza Airport’s runway will be upgraded and resurfaced to eliminate any irregularities. A new power station will also be built to ensure the energy supply to all the airport’s facilities. In addition, the rescue and firefighting service facility will be refurbished and expanded.
Improvements will also reach Huesca-Pirineos Airport, thanks to an investment of €7.8 million. Key projects include upgrading the runway pavement, supplying vehicles for the winter operations plan, improving safety equipment and developing energy-efficiency plans.
This total investment of €13 billion, which will be mobilized over the next five years, will be financed through the funds of Spain’s airport system, managed by the state-owned company Aena, which reports to the Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility.
In this regard, Minister Óscar Puente explained that the DORA provides for virtually freezing fees, with the average airport charge increasing by just three euro cents per passenger per year.
