The Zaragoza Area Transport Consortium (CTAZ) is thus expanding the payment methods available on this connection. Passengers will be able to use contactless cards, mobile phones, smartwatches, wristbands and other devices compatible with NFC technology.
The procedure will be similar to any purchase made using contactless payment. When boarding the bus, passengers will need to hold their bank card or device near the validator's reader. Once the transaction is approved, the ticket will be paid for directly.
This will allow occasional travelers to use the service without having to obtain a transport card, top it up or purchase a ticket before boarding the bus.
The new option will be available for the single ticket, which costs €4.65. This direct payment system does not include the discounts linked to other transport passes.
LAZO AND CIUDADANA CARDS WILL REMAIN AVAILABLE
The introduction of bank card payments will not mean the disappearance of the options currently available on route 505. Passengers will still be able to use both the Lazo card and the Ciudadana card and retain the fare conditions and discounts applicable to these passes.
Advance ticket purchases will also remain available through the aeropuerto.lazo.app website. This option allows passengers to book the journey both to Zaragoza Airport and from the airport facilities to the city.
Through this platform, users can check and select the different schedules available each day. Services are coordinated with flight departures and arrivals.
MORE THAN 38,000 PASSENGERS SO FAR THIS YEAR
The bus connection to Zaragoza Airport has recorded 38,048 passengers so far in 2026, according to data available through mid-September.
Between January and August, a total of 35,127 people used this route. This figure is joined by the 2,921 passengers recorded during the first half of September, although the latter figure is still provisional.
May has been the busiest month so far, with 5,736 passengers. August followed with 5,307 users, ahead of April with 4,889 and July with 4,605 passengers.
The addition of payment by bank card and mobile devices therefore provides another way to access a route used by both residents and travelers who need to travel between Zaragoza and the airport.
