The village is part of the Holapueblo project, an initiative that connects small municipalities with people interested in starting businesses and settling in rural areas. Applicants must complete the procedures and registration through Holapueblo, which assesses their profiles and projects and facilitates the connection process. Therefore, this is not a call managed directly by Cabra de Mora Town Council.
Cabra de Mora currently has 75 inhabitants and is located in the Gúdar-Javalambre region, at an altitude of 1,085 metres. It lies 45 kilometres from Teruel and just ten kilometres from Mora de Rubielos. Its setting, between the Alcalá and Malezas del Castellar rivers, combines heritage, trails and nature with proximity to some of the province's main tourist destinations.
A VILLAGE OF 75 INHABITANTS NEAR MORA DE RUBIELOS
One of the main advantages for people who need to work from home is connectivity. Cabra de Mora has fibre-optic internet and 5G coverage, making it possible to develop digital projects or work remotely from the village. The municipality also has a bus service connecting it with Teruel three days a week: Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
The medical clinic is located in the village itself, with consultations on Mondays and Thursdays and nursing services on Wednesdays. The reference health centre is in Mora de Rubielos, where 24-hour care and an ambulance service are available. The nearby town also has a pharmacy, a nursery school and primary and secondary schools, while school transport for these stages is free.
Everyday amenities include a fronton court and natural bathing areas in summer along the two rivers that run through the surrounding area. Hiking, mountain biking and mushroom foraging add to the leisure options. The municipality currently has a hotel, a guesthouse, a bar and a restaurant.
Cabra de Mora also has heritage assets that could become an attraction for new tourism projects. The settlement's origins are linked to an Arab farmstead dating back more than 800 years, and one of its main landmarks is the complex formed by the Church of San Miguel and the Chapel of La Escala Santa, which has been declared a Site of Cultural Interest. The proximity of the Valdelinares and Javalambre ski resorts expands the opportunities connected to tourism for much of the year.
TOURISM, TRADES AND DIGITAL BUSINESSES AMONG THE OPPORTUNITIES
There are various possibilities for starting a business. Information published by Holapueblo states that a farmhouse is for sale and could be converted into a rural guesthouse, while an approximately 500-square-metre industrial warehouse is available for setting up a business. There is also a need for generational succession in butcher's shops and bakeries in nearby villages.
The area also needs professionals working in trades and services such as plumbing, electrical work, construction and hospitality. Fibre-optic connectivity makes it possible to add businesses that can operate online, offering an alternative for entrepreneurs who do not need to rely exclusively on local demand.
Active tourism is another of the areas identified by Holapueblo. Hiking, nature, mushroom foraging and mountain biking could provide a starting point for new activities aimed at visitors. In addition, the river plain offers opportunities for projects related to organic farming.
Available resources also include a public plot of more than 1,000 square metres with a structure prepared for a multipurpose warehouse, as well as plots around the village, farmhouses with land and orchards that are currently uncultivated. The municipality is willing to consider ways to facilitate the arrival of new projects, but access to the programme and the procedures for those wishing to participate must be completed through Holapueblo.
The village also has experience welcoming new residents. According to information collected by Holapueblo, ten new families have settled in Cabra de Mora in recent years. The Cabra de Mora Pueblo Vivo Association also helps support and integrate families and entrepreneurs who decide to settle in the municipality.
