Insecurity and vandalism rank fourth in this particular ranking, accounting for 8.5% of responses. The list shows that, despite Zaragoza residents’ high overall satisfaction with the city, the main problems they perceive are related to public services and the condition of urban spaces.
The barometer was compiled by Fundación DFA based on 2,025 telephone surveys conducted between June 17 and July 17 among residents over the age of 18 who had lived in Zaragoza for more than six months. The study also shows that 93.1% of citizens are satisfied or very satisfied with living in the Aragonese capital, while 89.8% express the same level of satisfaction with their neighborhood.
CONSTRUCTION WORKS GAIN GROUND AMONG RESIDENTS’ CONCERNS
One of the new developments in this wave of the survey is the rise of construction works among the problems perceived by Zaragoza residents. Accounting for 6% of responses, they have moved into seventh place, compared with 1.6% in the previous report. The proliferation of projects on the city’s streets and avenues, with roads such as the Coso and Valencia Avenue undergoing works, is thus being reflected in public perceptions.
Among the projects considered priorities, the expansion of the tram network has once again emerged as one of residents’ main demands. Initiatives related to green spaces have also gained importance, while assessments of municipal services remain positive.
Overall, Zaragoza residents give municipal services a score of 6.68 and Zaragoza City Council’s management a 6.61. Pollution and air quality are the city’s best-rated aspect, at 6.86, followed by noise levels, public safety and street cleanliness.
