The group says that, following the visit by the president of the Huesca Provincial Council to the stretch last July, it has received no further news about a possible solution. The route known as the John Deere track is regularly used by tractors, agricultural machinery, heavy vehicles and transport linked to the area’s economic activity, many of which have no real alternative.
CONCERN ALSO OVER THE A-230
Black Tuesdays is also maintaining its concern over the A-230 works, which caused problems over the summer due to the presence of soil and dust. According to the platform, the lack of visibility has occasionally forced vehicles to stop when passing each other, prompting it to call for the work to progress more quickly and for measures to guarantee safety while it is being carried out.
The group also denounces the lack of maintenance over the past two years on several roads in Los Monegros, including the A-1104, A-1223, A-131, A-1214, A-1212, A-1211, A-1217 and A-1221. It warns that potholes, deformations and deteriorating road surfaces have reduced safety and harmed both local residents and the professionals who use these roads every day.
NEW PROTEST ON THE A-1212
The platform is also calling on the relevant authorities to publish a timetable for action and a budget, and to begin the necessary works. It has also announced that its next protest will take place on the A-1212, on the stretch between Almuniente and Sangarrén, where it will once again denounce the condition of the road surface. “Enough of announcements without follow-through. The John Deere stretch is an emergency; the A-230 needs a safe solution; and the entire Los Monegros road network requires maintenance, investment and action,” it concluded.
