The event was held on September 18 and 19 at La Azucarera as part of European Mobility Week. Over two days, public authorities, companies and professionals from different fields worked on the main challenges currently facing urban mobility.
Under the slogan “Mobility for all”, the event combined panel discussions on electric mobility, new ways of getting around and accessibility with a hackathon in which six multidisciplinary teams sought to respond to a challenge set by Zaragoza City Council: creating a city where anyone can move around in an authentic, safe, simple and affordable way.
SIX TEAMS FOR A “BARRIER-FREE ZARAGOZA”
Participants analyzed everyday journeys through Zaragoza to identify the obstacles different users may encounter and propose solutions based on technology, data and innovation to eliminate, reduce or even anticipate them.
The six projects were presented this Saturday before a jury made up of Zaragoza City Council’s councillor for the Environment and Mobility, Tatiana Gaudes; Víctor de la Mata, a project management specialist at the Aragon Automotive and Mobility Cluster; and Freyja Pérez Keller, CEO and founder of SnailStep and a researcher in pedestrian mobility.
The criteria assessed included the impact and feasibility of the proposals, their potential application in the city, the use of data and technology, and the presentation of each project.
AN ASSISTANT TO CENTRALIZE ZARAGOZA’S MOBILITY SERVICES
The Best Project Award went to CIERZO, a proposal developed by Pablo de las Heras, Marina Castanedo, Alexey Subbota and Juan Pasamar.
The project proposes bringing Zaragoza’s mobility and accessibility services together in a single assistant accessible through calls and messages. The idea aims to prevent the use of apps or certain digital tools from becoming a barrier to accessing these services.
Meanwhile, Souad Achkr Elazzouzi received the Best Talent Award for her performance and contribution during the hackathon.
The second edition of the Mobility Summit was organized by Movea Consulting and ONKLUB, together with Zaragoza City Council, with the support of CIRCE, Tranvía Zaragoza and Avanza. The initiative aims to turn real mobility problems in the city into solutions that can help make Zaragoza more accessible.
