The event will be held at the Zaragoza Joven La Azucarera building, where Spain's best national eFootball player will be decided and, consequently, who will have the honor of representing Spain at the European Esports Challenge international competition.
Participation will be free and open to players over 18. Registration can be completed at www.fejuves.es/clasificatoriozaragoza. The day will begin at 10.30 a.m. with the Open Tournament, which will have a maximum of 64 participants. The eight best players in this competition will earn a place in the National Qualifier grand final in the afternoon.
A TOTAL OF 16 PLAYERS WILL COMPETE IN THE FINAL
The FEJUVES National eFootball Final will begin at 3.00 p.m. and will feature a total of 16 players: the eight who previously qualified through the online stage and the eight best players from the Open Tournament held in the morning. This stage will produce the national champion who will represent Spain at the European Esports Challenge, taking Spanish esports talent to the international competition.
Spain has an impressive competitive record in eFootball, making this event an opportunity to continue promoting national talent in one of the most popular esports disciplines. Among the main achievements of Spanish players are bronze medals at the 2021 World Championship and the fourth-place finish at the 2023 World Championship. Spain also competed in the European Championship held in Porto in 2024.
These results reinforce Spain's position as one of the leading countries in the competitive scene of this video game. Zaragoza City Council's Youth Councillor, Ruth Bravo, highlighted the importance of hosting the FEJUVES National eFootball Qualifier in the city and said it was a source of satisfaction that Zaragoza would once again serve as a "meeting point" for young people, players and video game and esports fans.
"At Zaragoza Joven, we want to continue promoting activities that connect with young people's interests while also creating opportunities for the development of their talent. Esports and gaming culture are part of the reality and leisure activities of many young people, and we believe that municipal spaces should also be open to these new forms of participation and entertainment," she said.
For his part, FEJUVES president Ignacio Chamorro highlighted the importance of Zaragoza serving as the venue for this national competition. "It is a true honor to hold the National eFootball Qualifier in Zaragoza, because of the relationship it has built with our ecosystem over the years. It is a city that has hosted finals, trade fairs and events in our region, always successfully and with high attendance."
A FREE-PLAY AREA
The organizers will also set up a free-play area at the entrance to La Azucarera featuring various Nintendo Switch titles, open to attendees as a complement to the competition. One of the most eye-catching activities will be an innovative competition inspired by the viral trend of "aura battles," adapted on this occasion to the world of football and video games.
Participants will face off in duels of charisma, presence and style, recreating or reinterpreting some of the most iconic celebrations and moments from real and virtual football, from Cristiano Ronaldo's famous "Siuuu" to various gestures and celebrations popularized in football video games.
A jury will assess aspects such as attitude, composure and execution, in a lighthearted event designed for all audiences. Epic entrances, technical gestures and legendary celebrations will determine who wins over the crowd and becomes the player with the most "aura" of the day. With this program, Zaragoza will become a meeting point for players, fans and the general public on September 12, combining high-level eFootball competition with leisure and entertainment activities linked to gaming culture.
