The program combines innovation, road safety, technology and sustainable transport, without focusing solely on the major debates about how we will get around in the years ahead. There will be activities for professionals, young people, families and schoolchildren, ranging from sessions on intelligent transport systems to a road safety education circuit for younger children in Plaza del Pilar.
The starting point is also a journey through time. The photographic exhibition "Everything Changes So That Nothing Stops," installed on Gran Vía until September 27, reviews the evolution of transport in Zaragoza, from the mule-drawn trams of 1885 to modern electric buses. It is a history that parallels the transformation of the city itself and serves as a prelude to a week in which Zaragoza will once again focus on how to better share and enjoy public space.
FROM VIRTUAL REALITY TO A HACKATHON FOR YOUNG PEOPLE
One of the most striking activities will take place from September 16 to 19 at the Expo Amphitheater with KARTeX Urban Explorers, a free, immersive experience that combines pedal-powered vehicles, virtual reality and participatory activities to teach participants how to make safe decisions when traveling around the city. Participants will have to investigate a simulated accident, learn how to respond in an emergency and navigate a virtual city while identifying risks.
The week will continue with an exhibition of hybrid and electric vehicles in Plaza del Pilar on September 16, followed the next day by a session on innovation and intelligent transport systems at Etopia, organized by Mobility City. There will also be an opportunity to think about the city of the future at the Mobility Summit Zaragoza 2026 and at a hackathon bringing together 50 young people to seek solutions to challenges such as accessibility and the recovery of public space.
The program will finally turn to younger children on Sunday, September 20, in Plaza del Pilar. The Local Police's Children's Traffic and Road Safety School will allow boys and girls aged 7 to 13 to learn in a practical way how to travel safely and share the road with other users, using bicycles, pedal karts and scooters. It will bring to a close a week aiming to show that mobility is not only about getting from one place to another, but also about how we want to live in the city.
