He is local shepherd Miguel Romeo, a 30-year-old from Santa Eulalia de Gállego who represents a new generation that has chosen to remain connected to extensive livestock farming. Romeo carries out part of his work on land within the municipal boundaries of Biscarrués.
A WALK WITH THE SHEPHERD
The activity will consist of a walk through the surroundings of Biscarrués alongside Miguel and his flock. The event is designed for everyone, from families to young people and adults. Participants will be able to learn firsthand about the world of livestock farming and discover the Galliguera area.
It is an opportunity to get closer to the daily reality of livestock farming, learn how a flock is managed and see firsthand the landscapes shaped by extensive livestock farming.

ENJOY CONNECTING WITH THE RURAL LANDSCAPE
This event is part of the “Sustainable Biscarrués” project, promoted by the Town Council, whose aim is to foster environmental education and awareness and highlight the municipality’s natural resources and sustainable traditional practices.
Extensive livestock farming is one of the pillars of this project, not only because of its role in conserving ecosystems and the rural landscape, but also because of its importance in maintaining economic activity, keeping people in the area and, ultimately, keeping the region alive.
The initiative aims to offer an accessible, participatory experience that is, above all, closely connected to the area and the people who keep it alive. It is an opportunity for children to discover some of the trades and activities that have shaped village life for generations, and for adults to learn more about the importance they still hold in rural areas.

The activity is promoted by Biscarrués Town Council and receives 80% funding from the Provincial Council of Huesca (DPH). “We want this activity to bring us closer to a reality that is part of our rural identity and that also plays an important role in caring for and maintaining our landscapes,” the Town Council said.
