The work proved particularly complex because of the tunnel’s characteristics. Infrastructure Maintenance teams had to work on the road surface and reinforce the crews in order to carry out the work in a space with limited height, which made it difficult to bring in the machinery needed to repair and subsequently resurface the affected area.
With the reopening, normal traffic flows to the Miguel Servet Hospital area will resume after several days of restrictions on certain movements. During the disruption, vehicles needing to access the area from the city centre under certain conditions had to take alternative routes, while emergency vehicles continued to have guaranteed direct access to the hospital at all times.
COMPLEX WORK
Mobility councillor José Miguel Rodrigo highlighted the technical difficulty of the work and the effort made by municipal crews to restore normal access as soon as possible. "It is an important point" for reaching the general emergency area, he said, which is why the priority was to speed up an intervention affecting one of Zaragoza’s main hospital entrances.
