Options will include introductory games for children aged 3 to 6, Special Olympics activities, boccia, golf, indoor football, 3x3 basketball, swimming, canoeing, water polo and even less common sports such as lacrosse and datchball. The aim is for the square to become a place throughout the weekend where people can discover and practice all kinds of sports.
One of the highlights will come on Saturday with the celebration of the 35th anniversary of Special Olympics Aragón. Around 300 athletes, volunteers and members of the organization will take part from 10:00 a.m. in a torch march from Plaza España to Pilar Square, before symbolically opening a weekend dedicated to sport. The organization views the celebration as recognition of its 35 years of work and an opportunity for its athletes to take center stage at one of Zaragoza’s major popular sporting events.
