The Guardia Civil officers initially tried to help the fawn leave the canal without intervening directly, but their attempts were unsuccessful. Given the difficulty of the situation, one of the officers did not hesitate to remove part of his uniform and dive into the water.
Images released by the Guardia Civil itself show the officer trying several times to reach the animal before finally managing to grab it. Once beside the fawn, he managed to fit it with a harness to facilitate the rescue. From outside, the patrol's second officer pulled on the harness. Their coordination ultimately enabled them to remove the fawn from the canal and bring it to safety.
