From Daroca to Anento on foot: 30 young people take on four business challenges across Aragon

Thirty young people swapped classrooms for Aragon’s trails for five days, walking more than 60 kilometers while seeking solutions to real business challenges. The experience, part of the free youth entrepreneurship program “El Garaje,” took participants through municipalities in Zaragoza and Teruel and ended in Anento with presentations of their proposals to the participating companies.
From Daroca to Anento on foot: 30 young people take on four business challenges across Aragon

The journey began on August 30 in Daroca and passed through towns including Gallocanta, Valdehorna, Santed, Berrueco, Báguena, San Martín del Río and Anento. During the five stages, covering between 20 and 30 kilometers, the young participants had to combine physical effort with living together and working in multidisciplinary teams. The goal was to respond to four challenges set by Ciheam, Amazon Web Services (AWS), Ibercaja and hiberus, covering areas as diverse as the future of rural areas and agri-food systems, technological transformation, the use of public data and artificial intelligence.

SEVEN TEAMS PRESENT THEIR IDEAS TO COMPANY REPRESENTATIVES

The journey began on August 30 in Daroca and passed through towns including Gallocanta, Valdehorna, Santed, Berrueco, Báguena, San Martín del Río and Anento

The adventure culminated in a “Final Pitch” at Anento Castle, where the seven participating teams presented their ideas to representatives of the companies that set the challenges. After assessing the proposals, four teams were selected, one for each business challenge, and will continue developing their projects over the coming months with training and mentoring. The initiative aims to help participants move from identifying a problem to proposing solutions that could become real and viable projects.

"Project piloting" is part of “El Garaje,” promoted by AJE Zaragoza, Zaragoza City Council and Fundación Ibercaja. The program is aimed at young people aged between 16 and 25 and is divided into three phases: a training period between June and July, "The Journey" during August and September, and a final stage focused on preparing the projects for presentation to investors and companies. Through this format, its organizers aim to bring entrepreneurship to rural Aragon and demonstrate that young talent can also generate innovation far from classrooms and large cities.
