Torres explained that she and the Councillor for the Presidency, Ángel Lorén, had already worked on a selection of the positions that could be affected by the reorganization. "It is obvious to everyone that if the structure is changed, positions will disappear," she said. The Vox spokesperson clarified, however, that she was not referring in any way to municipal civil servants, but rather to the director general positions that form part of Zaragoza City Council's structure.
According to Torres, Vox's objective is not to carry out dismissals, but to reduce the structure and prevent what it defines as "giving jobs to friends." The party maintains that the reorganization should serve to review the size of the City Council and make its operations more efficient.
VOX WANTS TO START THE PROCESS BEFORE DECEMBER
The spokesperson called for the reform to begin before the end of the year. She knows it will not be an immediate process and that it will have to follow the relevant procedures and go before the municipal plenary, but she believes it can no longer be postponed. "We will not accept starting the streamlining process after December," Torres warned, calling for the first steps to be taken as soon as possible.
The proposal is part of the ongoing standoff between the PP and Vox over the commitments in the current agreement, which are a key element for Santiago Abascal's party as it prepares to negotiate the 2027 budget.
