Over six weeks of activities held in June, July and September, children aged 6 to 15 took part in an educational experience designed to inspire STEAM careers and bring technology closer to younger generations through practical, creative and participatory methodologies. The councilor for Economy, Digital Transformation and Transparency, Carlos Gimeno, was able to see some of this work firsthand during a visit to the camps this Thursday.

"GROWING INTEREST IN FUN AND LEARNING"

For Gimeno, Etopia Kids represents "Zaragoza's commitment to scientific, technological and artistic education that prepares younger generations for the challenges of the future." He added that the "positive reception" of this edition "demonstrates families' growing interest in initiatives that combine fun and learning."

Under the slogan "Digital Planet Edition – Journey to the Center of Data," the 2026 edition renewed its content and learning tracks, adding new proposals related to artificial intelligence, robotics, programming, cybersecurity, science, space, entrepreneurship and technology applied to sport.

For her part, Sandra Parrilla, director of Fundación Hiberus, highlighted that this participation record represents "a boost to continue bringing technology closer to young people." The aim was for "each participant to discover that innovation can be a tool for creating, solving problems, working as a team and building opportunities for the future," she said.

TECHNOLOGY, SPORT, ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE AND ENTREPRENEURSHIP

The 2026 edition featured a complementary program designed to give participants first-hand experience of real-world situations linked to different professional fields. Among the highlights were two inspirational sessions led by former professional footballer Ángel Lafita, organizer of the Campus de Fútbol Pirineos Ángel Lafita, which brought together nearly 100 participants.

During the sessions, the young participants learned about his sporting career firsthand, discovered how technology is transforming professional sport and discussed values such as effort, perseverance and teamwork. Fundación Hiberus also organized four specialized workshops on artificial intelligence and one workshop on technological accessibility, introducing participants to real-world applications of innovation and fostering a more inclusive view of technology.

The 2026 edition also maintained its commitment to equal opportunities through a social scholarship program and an educational offering adapted to different ages and interests. The collaboration between Zaragoza City Council and Fundación Hiberus has helped strengthen an innovative educational initiative that combines technology, creativity and values, helping position Zaragoza as a city committed to talent, innovation and opportunities for younger generations.
