El Jardín del Gancho launches successfully and will return to Zaragoza on October 4

Flowers, plants, dogs, music and residents eager to stroll around. José María Forqué Square changed its appearance this Sunday with the launch of El Jardín del Gancho, the new Flower and Pet Market promoted by Zaragoza City Council to revitalize the Zamoray-Pignatelli area. Throughout the morning, numerous Zaragoza residents came to discover a proposal designed to continue and which, from its first edition, has received a strong public response.

The event brings together 20 stalls and runs from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. under the concept of an "ephemeral urban garden," with decorations based on plants, wooden stalls, umbrellas and textiles in neutral tones. Ten florists are taking part in the market, all of them members of the Aragon Florists Association, alongside vendors offering food, accessories and wellness products for pets.

Animal protection groups are also present, selling products to raise funds, while the program is rounded out by a DJ, floral workshops, family activities, photo spots and chess games organized by the Aragonese Artistic Association.

AN EVENT THAT IS HERE TO STAY

Zaragoza Mayor Natalia Chueca visited the market and highlighted the "great reception" given to this first edition. The initiative, announced by Chueca during the State of the City Debate, arose from a proposal put forward by local residents and aims to use neighborhood commerce, culture and animal welfare as tools to transform the Gancho area.

The market will return to José María Forqué Square on Sunday, October 4, and Sunday, November 8, maintaining a schedule of one Sunday per month. New proposals are also expected to be gradually added, including the presence of dogs from the municipal animal shelter to facilitate their adoption.

According to Chueca, the idea is for the square to become "a space for meeting and participation" and for the event to also help boost local businesses, encourage spending in hospitality venues and increase visitor numbers.
