The program will run from October 16 to December 20 and is aimed at young people aged 14 to 30 registered as residents of Zaragoza. All activities are free, and participants must be registered on the City Council’s Open Government Platform. Each person may apply for a maximum of 12 activities.
Activities returning due to their popularity include cooking workshops, activities with kittens, river descents on the Ebro, and diving and snorkeling experiences at the Aquarium. The 12 Lunas Ida y Vuelta excursions are also returning, this time taking participants to Oza and Berdún, Utrillas and Escucha, and Madrid’s Royal Galleries.
FROM THAI COOKING TO A STREET ESCAPE
But the autumn edition also comes packed with new sports and adventure activities. Traditional orienteering with a compass and map has been added, along with three new bicycle routes: ‘Mudejar Chameleon’, ‘The Riverside Ferryman’ and ‘The Bell Tower Lookout’. In the cultural section, ‘The Bread and the Seed: The Mystery of the Two Goddesses’ makes its debut.
Cooking once again plays an important role in the program, with new activities such as Thai cooking, a nougat workshop and ‘Operation Roscón’. The program is rounded out by a wide variety of proposals, ranging from introductory Go/Weiqi and Afro dance to the ‘Secret Base’ street escape, an algorithm laboratory on social networks and a Chinese calligraphy workshop.
There will also be new activities in 12 Lunas Estrella, including a visit to the Municipal Animal Protection Center to learn about its facilities and the work carried out to care for and protect animals. Meanwhile, 12 Lunas Intergeneracional will once again bring together young people and users of the Municipal Senior Community Centers through ‘You’ll Know by the Name: Trades That Gave Streets Their Names’, a tour of Zaragoza exploring the relationship between former trades, artists and the city’s streets.
WHEN REGISTRATION OPENS
The program will distribute its activities across the final three months of the year. October will feature 43 activities and 776 places, while November will have the largest number of proposals, with 59 activities and 1,032 places. December will offer a further 42 activities and 785 places.
Registration will open in stages. Places for October activities may be requested from September 21 to October 1, with a draw taking place on October 2. The registration period for November activities will run from October 12 to 22, with the draw held on October 23. Finally, registration for December will be open from November 16 to 26, with the draw scheduled for November 27.
12 Lunas once again combines leisure, culture, sports and learning in a program designed to offer free alternatives for spending free time, encourage relationships among young people and promote healthy leisure habits in Zaragoza.
