Utrillas’ Frontón Cubierto will host a fair where visitors can view and buy minerals, fossils, gems and meteorites from different parts of the world. There will also be exchange tables aimed especially at collectors.
The event aims to go far beyond exhibitions and sales. Children will play a leading role with mineral and fossil digs, competitions, geology-themed games and various prizes. The goal is to bring Earth sciences closer to younger visitors in a practical and entertaining way.
FROM THE “ABYSS OF TIME” TO FOSSIL BINGO
Scientific outreach will also feature in the program. The talk “The Abyss of Time” will take place on Saturday at 5:00 p.m. and will be repeated on Sunday at 10:30 a.m.
Another planned activity will be even more unusual: “Fossil and Mineral Bingo,” held on Saturday at 8:30 p.m. and Sunday at 1:30 p.m. The event aims to bring mineralogy and paleontology to everyone through a more playful approach.
The visit can also be rounded off with one of Utrillas’ main tourist attractions. Visits to the Mining Train and Museum will be available throughout the weekend, offering a chance to learn about the mining past that shaped the history and identity of this town in Teruel province for decades.
Organized by Utrillas Town Council, the fair is now in its fourth edition and, according to the organizers, has become Aragón’s largest event dedicated to collecting, scientific outreach and heritage linked to minerals and fossils.
