Chaballe will begin her gastronomic tour with one of the region’s traditional dishes: ternasco al chilindrón. The presenter will stop at the bar at La Barrica with its owner, Patricio Barrera, to learn how tapas are enjoyed in Teruel. She will then head to Plaza del Torico, where she will meet historian Serafín Aldecoa to discover the history of the city and this square, one of the main hubs of life in Teruel.
There she will find two of her next gastronomic stops. At Pura Cepa, she will have the chance to taste authentic Teruel ham and discuss the distinctive features of this designation of origin with Emiliano Urzay and María José Baguena, the couple behind the business and its cuisine.
The other restaurant will be Torico Gourmet, owned by José Luis Calve, which offers a culinary proposal based on locally sourced produce and the outstanding cooking of its head chef, Andrés Alegría. It will be the table chosen to sample Aragonese migas with black grapes and Teruel pork trotters.
MUDÉJAR ART, ANOTHER STOP ON THE TOUR
Adrienne will continue her adventure by exploring the city’s history. It will be time to learn about Mudéjar art, so she will visit the Cathedral of Santa María de Mediavilla, one of only two cathedrals in the country built in this style. There, she will be guided by heritage officer and art history professor Pedro Luis Hernando.
The visit will continue at the iconic Mudéjar Tower of El Salvador, where she will be accompanied by its communications manager, Marta Abad Gimeno, to discover the unique art and views offered by this historic monument.
Very close by will be the presenter’s next gastronomic stop, whose name refers precisely to its location. This is La Torre, the restaurant run by brothers Miguel and Carlos Guillen, where Adrienne will learn how to prepare traditional, comforting garlic soup, as well as taste a delicacy such as Teruel black truffle.
THE LOVERS OF TERUEL AND ONE FINAL GASTRONOMIC STOP
The journey would not be complete without visiting the remains of the city’s most popular romance, that of the young lovers Isabel and Diego. Patricia García, director of the Amantes de Teruel Foundation, will be responsible for introducing viewers to the story so vividly preserved by the Church of San Pedro and the Lovers’ Mausoleum.
Already in love with Teruel and its cuisine, Adrienne will make her final stop at the Locavore gastro-tavern to sample its most innovative fusion cooking, with dishes such as faux chorizo risotto and siu yuk pork belly. Javier Sánchez, owner and maître d’, and Fernando Sagüensa, head chef, will be in charge of this eagerly awaited final evening.
The team behind “De Tapas por España” will invite viewers to join them on this visit on TVE’s La 2 and discover these destinations where culture, history and cuisine come together in a single experience, every Sunday at 7:30 p.m.
