Located in one of the town's most emblematic historic buildings, the tavern has made tradition, local produce and authenticity its best calling card. This approach has won over both visitors seeking genuine experiences in the valley and food experts, earning it a Repsol Guide Solete and inclusion, within just a few months, in the first edition of the Los Mejores Bares de España guide.
MOUNTAIN CUISINE AND FLAVORS OF THE BENASQUE VALLEY
In the heart of Cerler, La Taberna de Casa Cornel champions a way of cooking deeply connected to the region. Its culinary offering draws on traditional Pyrenean recipes, local produce and a philosophy that puts flavor above any kind of artifice.
The menu is a journey through some of the most recognizable flavors of Aragon and the Huesca mountains. Highlights include Teruel ham with a Designation of Origin, a mountain cheese board called "Journey through the Pyrenees," broken eggs with Graus sausage, tuna belly with pink tomato and Fuentes onion, and octopus served over potato purée and paprika from La Vera. All are accompanied by carefully selected wines and thoughtfully sourced products.

The tavern also offers a more casual side, with burgers made from Angus beef and signature recipes alongside homemade croquettes, patatas bravas and other dishes designed for sharing around the table.
However, the true heart of the establishment lies in traditional cooking. Olla de Sarllé, daily stews, traditional casseroles and Aragonese suckling lamb revive the spirit of the old mountain eateries. These dishes are served in casseroles for sharing, following a custom that forms part of the Benasque Valley's culinary identity and turns every meal into an experience rooted in Pyrenean tradition.

It is no coincidence that one of the phrases on its own menu perfectly sums up its philosophy: "The recipes are homemade and come from grandmothers." This statement of intent explains better than anything else the soul of an establishment where cooking remains memory, place and hospitality.
FROM THE REPSOL SOLETE TO A NATIONAL GUIDE
La Taberna de Casa Cornel's strong current moment has been reflected in several recent accolades. In the spring 2026 edition, it received a Solete from the Repsol Guide, a distinction that recognizes establishments capable of offering authentic experiences with a personality of their own.

The publication highlights the combination of tradition, flavor and warmth that defines the venue, as well as its ability to convey the culinary essence of the Aragonese Pyrenees to visitors.
This recognition was followed shortly afterward by its inclusion in the first edition of the Los Mejores Bares de España guide, produced by Tapas Magazine. The selection brings together more than 500 bars, taverns, wine bars and terraces from across the country considered essential for discovering the richness of Spanish cuisine.
Its presence in both guides places La Taberna de Casa Cornel among the most notable establishments in the Aragonese Pyrenees and confirms the growing interest in mountain cuisine when it is prepared with authenticity. In reality, this recognition goes far beyond awards: it reflects the enduring value of traditional recipes, local produce and the identity of a region that finds one of its finest forms of expression at the table.
