Culture, Education and Tourism Councillor Sara Fernández and Education Councillor Paloma Espinosa visited Villacampa Nursery School today, the oldest in the municipal network, which is celebrating its 75th anniversary in 2026. During the visit, they learned about the first days of the school year and the improvements carried out to prepare the facilities and welcome the pupils.
Educational activities began yesterday, September 7, while school staff joined the centers on September 1 to prepare the facilities and organize the new school year. The municipal network continues working to ensure that these first days provide a gradual transition between family life and school, with individualized support for both the children and their families.
€91,000 FOR SCHOOL IMPROVEMENTS
Zaragoza City Council used the school holidays to carry out various maintenance and improvement works at the nursery schools, with an investment of approximately €91,000.
Painting work was carried out over the summer at five centers: Brioletas, El Andén, El Tren, María Urrea and Los Vientos. Improvements were also made to the kitchen at Brioletas, while work was carried out on the floors at Los Vientos. In addition, other smaller-scale interventions were completed at the remaining schools, addressing the specific needs of each facility.
SCHOOL MEALS AND SUPPORT FOR DIVERSITY
The school meal service will begin operating on September 14. As a new development, the company Educater will prepare the menus at each center, increasing the use of organic and locally sourced products. The organic fruit and vegetables will be supplied by Gardeniers, the special employment center operated by Atades.
