The day will begin at 10:00 a.m. with the display and sale of products from small producers and artisans, one of the event’s main attractions. Throughout the morning, visitors will be able to browse the stalls set up in different parts of the town and enjoy the atmosphere of this fair, which invites people to “candaniar” through the streets and squares of Alquézar.
A LUNCH OF FRIED EGGS AND LONGANIZA
Food will also play a leading role at Candaniar. At 11:00 a.m., a lunch of fried eggs with longaniza will be served at A Noguera, offering visitors the chance to recharge and enjoy some of Aragon’s most traditional flavors.
The program will continue at 1:30 p.m. with a popular raffle for a cured ham in Rafael Ayerbe Square. It will be one of the most participatory moments of a day that will continue throughout the afternoon.
The stalls will remain open until 7:30 p.m., when they will begin closing and the fair’s commercial activity will come to an end. However, the day will not end there.
LOS TITIRITEROS DE BINÉFAR WILL BRING THE DAY TO A CLOSE
At 8:00 p.m., the fronton on Calle Nueva will host a performance by Los Titiriteros de Binéfar, who will stage their play En la boca del lobo. The show will provide a cultural finale to a day centered on crafts, local products and food.
Alquézar Town Council and the Alquézar Cultural Association are inviting residents and visitors to come to the town and enjoy a new edition of Candaniar, an event that turns the streets and squares of this Somontano municipality into a meeting place for discovering artisan products, eating, taking part in activities and enjoying the atmosphere.
WHAT TO SEE IN ALQUÉZAR BEYOND CANDANIAR
In addition to attending Candaniar, visitors can take the opportunity to explore Alquézar, one of the Somontano’s best-known towns. Its historic quarter, declared a Historic-Artistic Site, offers cobbled streets, stone houses and viewpoints over the surrounding area of the Sierra y los Cañones de Guara Natural Park.
Among its main attractions are the Collegiate Church of Santa María la Mayor, located at the highest point of the town, and the famous walkways over the Vero River, a route through gorges and nature that has become one of the area’s major tourist draws.
