The contract, with a budget of 14,409 euros, covers the work required to install and remove the Christmas lights during the 2026-2027 season. The schedule establishes that the dismantling of the displays will be completed by February 28, 2027, while the contract will run until March 5 to complete the monitoring and closing reports.
The installation will begin just a few weeks after Vigo once again attracted attention for its particular Christmas countdown. While the Galician city began preparing its light display in late July, Zaragoza has now set a date in the calendar for its streets to begin transforming with Christmas decorations in October. However, as in previous years, the installation of supports is expected to begin on those dates, with the first Christmas displays likely to appear after the Fiestas del Pilar celebrations.
THE STREETS AND SQUARES THAT WILL HAVE CHRISTMAS LIGHTING
The planned work will cover much of the city center and the main urban thoroughfares. The locations included are Calle Alfonso, Paseo de la Independencia, Plaza de España, Plaza del Pilar, Plaza Europa, Avenida Ciudad de Soria, Avenida Pirineos, Puente de Piedra, Gran Vía and Fernando el Católico, Paseo Sagasta, Calle Delicias, León XIII, Tomás Bretón, Sobrarbe, Compromiso de Caspe, Avenida América, Plaza de la Lonja, Don Jaime, Cinco de Marzo and Plaza Paraíso.
Other locations set to host Christmas displays will also be added, including Plaza del Justicia, Paseo Isabel la Católica and Puente de los Cantautores, Plaza Aragón, Plaza San Miguel, Puerta del Carmen, Plaza de la Ciudadanía, Plaza Santiago Sas, Parque de los Incrédulos, Plaza Armonía, Calle Bielsa, Avenida Cataluña and Clara Campoamor, among others.
The new installation contract is part of a Christmas campaign that already includes new features announced by the city council for this year. These include the renovation of the illuminated canopy on Calle Alfonso, ornamental lighting in Plaza de España and a new light corridor between Plaza de San Miguel and Santiago Church. According to the municipal schedule, the lights are expected to be switched on from November 20.
