Zaragoza Seeks Hispanic People Who Keep the City Beating: How to Submit Nominations

Zaragoza is once again seeking people and groups of Hispanic American origin who help transform the city. The Zaragoza City Council has launched the third edition of the Latir Hispano Awards, recognizing the talent, social commitment and contribution of this community to the Aragonese capital. Nominations can be submitted through the municipal website until November 15.

Launched in 2024 at the initiative of Mayor Natalia Chueca, these awards aim to strengthen the historic ties between Zaragoza and the Americas and highlight those who contribute to the city’s development. The previous call for nominations received 142 entries from twelve countries, a response that reflects the importance of the Hispanic American community in Zaragoza’s daily life. “We will continue to reward and recognize the Hispanic community that helps make Zaragoza better,” the mayor said.

LATIR HISPANO OF THE YEAR

The call includes five awards: the Latir Hispano of the Year, three awards linked to different fields of activity, such as business, social commitment and sport, and a fifth popular award to be decided through a vote via Latin radio stations. In this way, the awards seek to recognize both individual careers and the work of associations and groups that help make Zaragoza a more welcoming city.

The awards ceremony will take place on November 25 at the Zaragoza Auditorium. In the previous edition, the main award went to Colombian Óscar Rueda Barajas, a corporal in the Military Emergency Unit, who received the recognition from Natalia Chueca.
