The installation consists of eight-pointed stars, with a format reminiscent of the traditional snowflake, but with a more modern aesthetic. The elements have been placed individually, suspended by cables running from one side of the street to the other and spaced along the entire road.
For now, visitors will have to wait to see the final result. The new lights will not be switched on until late November, when their full effect will begin to emerge. Even so, the stars already hint at one of their possible attractions: each one incorporates a special material at its points that produces shades of color even before the lights are turned on.
MORE CHANGES TO CHRISTMAS IN ZARAGOZA
The renovation of Alfonso I Street adds to other changes already being introduced to its Christmas lighting. The city has been installing the decorations that will adorn its streets during the upcoming holiday season for days, and some areas already offer an idea of what this year's display will look like. In Delicias, for example, structures featuring three circles of stars and moons have been installed, stretching from one side of the street to the other. Illuminated motifs have also begun appearing on Tomás Bretón and in San Francisco Square.
The city center will feature some of the main new additions this season. In addition to the new star canopy on Alfonso I, decorative lighting is planned for Spain Square, along with the creation of a corridor of light between San Miguel Square and Santiago Church. These changes come after Independence Promenade unveiled completely revamped lighting last year, with suspended light garlands replacing the ones known as "Broken Stars."
