Organized by the Zaragoza Firefighters’ Cultural and Sports Association, the race will start at 9:30 a.m. in front of the Fire Station, taking runners past some of the most iconic locations in the Aragonese capital. Participants will pass Plaza de los Sitios, Puerta del Carmen, the bullring, the Fire and Firefighters Museum, the banks of the Ebro, the Third Millennium Bridge and the Expo site before reaching the finish line, which will change location this year and be held at Macanaz Park for the first time.
In addition to the record turnout, what makes this edition special is the tribute to and remembrance of Javier García, a member of the Military Emergency Unit, and Juan Luis Alonso, a Zaragoza Provincial Council firefighter, who died this summer while working on firefighting operations. Coinciding with the 25th anniversary of the terrorist attack on the Twin Towers on September 11, there will also be a moving tribute to the more than 400 firefighters who lost their lives that day.

As a tribute to all of them, nearly 50 firefighters and UME members will take part in the 10K in full gear, keeping alive on the asphalt the memory of those who gave their lives trying to save others. They will be joined by more than 350 members of the security forces and armed forces, including firefighters, police officers, military personnel and other professionals. "It is one of the sporting events that attracts the most people from Zaragoza and beyond because of its charitable nature," said Ruth Bravo, Zaragoza City Council’s councillor for Firefighters and Civil Protection.
A CHARITY RACE
The proceeds from the race will go to several projects. On the one hand, they will support Tándem Solidario, as part of the initiative to help Edu, in cooperation with the race’s main sponsor, Laboral Kutxa, which is also celebrating 25 years in Aragon this year. On the other, they will support the Zaragoza Firefighters’ Cultural and Sports Association, which will continue promoting a project to humanize spaces in the ICU waiting rooms at Lozano Blesa University Clinical Hospital.
As in the previous edition, race bibs will be distributed at the Sala Hipóstila of the Zaragoza Auditorium. On Saturday, September 19, participants will be able to collect their bibs from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Runners who were unable to collect them beforehand will also be able to do so on the morning of the race, from 7:30 to 9:00 a.m., at the Auditorium.
