Brocate, representing the city council, conveyed his best wishes to the team for a campaign in which Contazara faces the challenge of establishing itself in Spain’s second tier of handball and could even dream of reaching the promotion playoff places for Asobal. The Zaragoza side is therefore embarking on its second consecutive season in a competition that got underway last weekend.
The league opener, however, did not have the expected outcome. Contazara lost 26-31 at home to recently relegated BM Guadalajara in a match that was closely contested for much of its duration. The Zaragoza side went into halftime level at 14-14 after recovering from the visitors’ first attempt to pull away, but Guadalajara managed the closing minutes better to take both points.

NEXT FIXTURE
After visiting one of the most important buildings in the Aragonese capital, the Zaragoza team is continuing to prepare for its next fixture, which will take it to Catalonia. Contazara will visit Barça Atlètic this Saturday, September 19, at 4:30 p.m. The Catalan side also failed to start the season with a win, losing 33-30 away to Anaitasuna.
The Zaragoza side will therefore be seeking its first win of the season in Catalonia, in a clash between two teams heading into the second round needing to open their winning accounts. It will be another opportunity for Contazara to continue taking steps forward in its second year in the Silver Division and consolidate the project that received Zaragoza City Council’s backing on Wednesday.
