The moments before the ceremony marked Mariona's first contact with a Casademont squad that welcomed her with numerous displays of affection, hugs, smiles and congratulations for her success with Spain. She shared a particularly special moment with Carlos Cantero, with whom she exchanged a heartfelt hug after a long summer during which new additions arrived whom Mariona was able to meet on Monday. "Welcome home," the red-and-black club wrote on its social media channels.
In this way, the Catalan point guard, who landed on Spanish soil earlier on Monday, put the finishing touch to an unforgettable experience with Spain, which won the bronze medal after comfortably defeating Germany (81-58). Mariona played almost 12 minutes in that game, contributing 3 points, 1 rebound and 1 assist, bringing to a close a World Cup in which the Spanish national team once again showed its ability to compete among the best.
BACK TO WORK ON WEDNESDAY
After arriving in the Aragonese capital on Monday, Mariona will join training on Wednesday, when she will once again work under Carlos Cantero on the court. Helena Oma will also return to training that day. She was present at the gala as well and missed last week after taking part in the 3x3 European Championship, where she won the silver medal.
Both Mariona and Oma will therefore be able to begin preparing the final stretch of the preseason with the group, with the Spanish Super Cup already on the horizon. Casademont will defend the title it won last season in Torrejón de Ardoz, with a red-and-black captain who will immediately begin taking charge of the Aragonese club's locker room.
