“Javi (Roda) is one of the reasons I came. I knew which goalkeepers he had worked with. I was excited,” said the goalkeeper who has been Real Zaragoza’s starter this season.
However, things were not easy at first. “In the first week, we had discussions about cultural differences, but he told me to forget everything I had learned in Holland because we are in Spain. If I want to play, I have to adapt,” he said.
“After that discussion, I did so, and it is a pleasure to work with him. He is very good, and I am improving because of the things he says. I hope to keep improving throughout the season, and he is going to make me a very good goalkeeper,” Sem Westerveld added.
SETTLED IN ZARAGOZA
The Real Zaragoza goalkeeper admitted that it was difficult. “During preseason, I was a little tired and had more trouble adapting to the training sessions, but I felt better every week. The feelings are good; we won our last match and continue improving every week,” he said.
