"Every season is a challenge, whatever the situation. You always want to give your best and show what you are capable of, wherever you go. That is why I believe this is a great challenge for me," said the new Casademont small forward, who previously played in Spain with Palencia in Primera FEB during the 2021-2022 season, when the competition was known as LEB Oro.
Returning to Spain was one of the main reasons Blumbergs decided to sign for Casademont. "The ACB is one of the best leagues in Europe. I had already played in Spain before, so for me it is not a major change," said the Latvian player, who is feeling "very good" physically after taking part in World Cup qualifying with Latvia, which led to his late arrival in Zaragoza.

In this way, the power forward joins Gonzalo García de Vitoria's team with the aim of strengthening an interior game that came under heavy scrutiny last season. "I spoke briefly with the coach shortly before signing. He did not ask me for anything specific, just to do what I already know how to do, helping on defense and offense. Whatever he wants me to do, I will be there to help and support the team in any way I can," explained the Latvian player, who is expected to play an important role at power forward.
SEASON EXPECTATIONS
On a more collective note, Blumbergs stressed that he believes "it is going to be a fantastic season" and that Casademont's revamped roster features "many talented players" capable of producing a successful campaign in the year the club celebrates its 25th anniversary.
"I think we can achieve great things this season. If we work together and stay united as a team throughout the season, in both good times and bad, we have a great chance of achieving something positive," said the player, who has been fully integrated into Casademont's preparations since Thursday.
