"It is exciting to see how far the team has come in recent years," an enthusiastic Vitola stressed. She played her first professional season with Mann Filter in 2014/2015. The Latvian specifically pointed to the Red Tide as one of the things that has changed most over the years: "It is exciting to see how the city has grown and how the fan base has expanded. Until now, I have often played against the Red Tide, so it is great to finally have them on my side and count on their support."
In this way, Vitola, who played the second half of last season with IDK Euskotren, returns to Zaragoza with a wealth of experience. "I have the experience I have gained after playing abroad for many years. Right now, I am one of the most experienced players in the group, so I try to contribute my vision, work hard and read the game well," said the Latvian, who noted that within the frontcourt she feels "more comfortable" playing as a power forward because she likes to "stretch the floor and shoot the ball."

Vitola's signing follows the arrival of the other four additions who have joined a team that has been in preseason for three weeks. "We are working hard and improving step by step. I am very happy with the direction we are taking and where we are headed," the center said, while emphasizing that the team's expectations "are high," although the pieces must first be "fitted together," as players such as Mariona, Vorackova, Fingall and Bankolé have yet to arrive.
HER RELEASE CLAUSE
Although she signed for one season, Vitola has a unilateral termination clause in her contract that the red-clad club can exercise in January 2027, coinciding with the date when experienced Spanish center Astou Ndour will join the team. "That is still a long way off. Right now, it is September and I am part of a team. My job here is to show up, give maximum effort and do my best. Then we will see what happens in January," the Latvian said about her contractual situation.
