Oma was among the nine players selected to begin training on September 6 in Valencia, where the national team completed its preparations for the European Championship. Of that initial group, only four players ultimately secured a place on the trip to Antwerp, including Helena Oma, who has once again confirmed her prominence in a discipline that has made her a regular member of the national team.
The call-up marks the latest chapter in an especially intense summer for Oma with Spain’s 3x3 national team. The Casademont Zaragoza player has been a regular member of the national squad in recent months and has achieved several notable results. At the beginning of July, she won her first title with Spain in Bucharest and later lifted the trophy again in Bordeaux, where she was also named the tournament’s MVP.

For Casademont, Oma’s selection means her absence from the team’s preseason will extend throughout the current week, as the Catalan forward will have to remain with Spain for the duration of its participation in Antwerp and will be unable to join Casademont’s training while the national team remains in competition. As a result, Cantero will have to face Thursday’s first friendly without Mariona, Vorackova, Fingall, Bankolé and Oma herself.
THE EUROPEAN CUP
The European Cup will begin for Spain on Friday, September 11. The national team has been drawn in Group B alongside Hungary and Slovenia and will play the tournament’s opening phase that day. The top two teams from each group will qualify for the title playoffs.
If Spain advances, it will return to the court on Sunday, September 13, for the quarterfinals. In that round, it will face a team from Group D, which features Germany, Poland and Belgium. From there, the Spanish team will aim to reach the semifinals and compete for medals in Antwerp.
